Soulbox Soulfood: Reviews & Ratings
I had an all aground great experience. I did not catch her name but the lady who helped me and my father was very helpful and gave great energy. As someone who had never been to this establishment and was visiting from out of town, I can say that I will be returning on my next trip to Atlanta. I ordered the chicken and rice with a side of candy yams, collard greens, cornbread and the dressing . I also ordered the strawberry lemonade that is also made in house and was delicious and packed with flavor (perfect for a warm day). The atmosphere was great , there was music and cooling air and the workers made conversation and expressed ahead of time if something wasn’t available. I recommend coming here and trying for yourself, you won’t regret it!!
I decided to check this restaurant out for the first time because the food look really good on their site and it has some good reviews. First, I would like to say customer service was excellent. The young lady that took my order was very professional and patient. The turkey wings with rice and cornbread were delicious! I didn’t like the dressing, mac & cheese, greens or peach cobbler. The greens weren’t season at all and I thought turkey was supposed to be in my greens, but I didn’t see any turkey. The mac & cheese didn’t taste like mac & cheese. I’ll just say the stuffing was different. Peach cobbler was very bland and $9 for that very small amount was insane to me on top of the 10% gratuity and it was only me purchasing for myself. I’m all about supporting my people, but this right here was a bit much for me. We have to do better. Peace and Blessings
Atmosphere was very cluttered and junky. Half of the restaurant looked like a storage space for random items. Make your business look appealing to customers is a recommendation. Service was good although they were only accepting cash wish I wasn’t prepared for which caused me to spend less than I had planned because I had planned to use my card. The pork chop breading was thick and overwhelming I did not enjoy it. However the pork chop itself was very moist which tends to be a hit or miss at most restaurants. The rice was okay, could have been reworked or sat under a lamp a bit mushy for my taste. The greens were really good nice and crunch with a vinegary taste not overcooked like most places. The cornbread was dry crumbly and not very flavorful. I would go back but wouldn’t order anything fried because I don’t like the flavor of the breading they use.
First off let me say this- the customer service is unmatched. Very pleasant and inviting- after flying 18 hours from Europe, some good hot soul food was needed. We were greeted upon entry- very calm environment with the jams playing. Plenty of options and not rushed to make a decision. My daughter and I enjoyed the break in our traveling day. I enjoyed the food and its flavors - not overly seasoned. The strawberry lemonade I ordered 3 - I did dilute it with water, but I’m not a juice drinker to begin with. It was delicious. The veggie plate was a great option for a person like me and all my meat no meat and texture issues. My daughter ordered pork chops and a salmon plate to go. Y’all have gained 2 new customers and we will be back before our trip is over on this leg - we enjoyed the 1.5 hours we spent at this place just listening to good music and having great hot soul food.
Just experienced the BEST soul food in Atlanta at Soul Box! This hole-in-the-wall spot is easy to miss, but the food is absolutely incredible. My veggie plate (collards, cabbage, mac & cheese, yams, cornbread with honey butter) was divine, and my daughter loved her fried chicken box. Don't even get me started on the homemade pineapple strawberry lemonade and blueberry lemon cobbler! Friendly service from two amazing women too! #SoulFood #AtlantaEats #HiddenGem #SupportLocal
I was disappointed by there descriptions on their menu for this peach cobbler. The portion description states it’s enough for 2 people or 1 greedy person. Take look at the pictures below and judge for yourself. In addition, the taste was not that great. The Strawberry, Pineapple Lemonade taste like syrup and water. It was very heavy on the sweet where you can’t taste flavors just sugar. Cornbread was flavorless and hard as a rock. Mac and cheese was ok, I added more cheese to make it cheesy. Now the greens, cabbage, potato salad, and fried chicken was delicious. The customer service was great, but they do have a sign posted about what they don’t give refunds for. Read it and pay attention to it. Nonetheless, I tried it, thanks won’t be back.
